Blade and Performance

What does it take to design a truly exceptional everyday knife? For the K40, we wanted to hit three things: 1) Safety 2) Performance, and 3) Comfort.

To achieve these three things, we integrated a robust crossbar lock mechanism that delivers a fluid, satisfying action. Whether you prefer to flick it open or use the dual thumb studs, the deployment is completely intuitive with zero learning curve. Best of all, your fingers stay entirely clear of the blade’s path, ensuring exceptional safety and smooth, one-hand operation. A great knife shouldn’t feel like a rigid mechanical structure—it should feel like an extension of your hand.

Driven by an ergonomics-first philosophy, the handle scales are dimensionally contoured to provide ultimate control. Through rigorous user testing, we determined that a 3-inch blade is the absolute "sweet spot" for urban carry, balancing maximum cutting control with absolute comfort.

For the blade profile, we opted for an understated, clean-lined sheepfoot shape. In daily life, a non-aggressive silhouette matters far more than a tactical look. It excels at everyday tasks like opening packages, cutting through heavy cardboard, or whittling wood. Furthermore, the smoothly radiused spine transition eliminates sharp edges, preventing accidental punctures during heavy use.

Aesthetics and Materials

For the core engine of blade, we chose premium Sandvik 14C28N steel, which strikes the perfect trifecta of razor-sharp edge retention, corrosion resistance, and effortless maintenance.

The handle features precision-finished G10 scales, boasting a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. To elevate the comfort, every single edge of the G10 handle is painstakingly hand-finished to create a smooth, rounded contour that fits perfectly into the palm. Paired with a deep-carry pocket clip, the K40 rides low and discreetly in your pocket, acting as a quiet, reliable companion.

Adding to its versatility, we add a locking 4mm screwdriver bit module into the butt of the tool. It doesn't clutter the footprint but provides high-utility fix-it capabilities. It can be deployed at 180 degrees to extend your reach, allowing you to operate smoothly in tight, cramped spaces.
